Danube in Flames

Have you ever seen the Danube burst into flames?

Come and spend a long weekend in our capital and mingle with the crowd on our biggest national holiday. You will get a stunning, unique experience on 20th August if you join the ten thousands celebrating people in Budapest.

20th of August is the day of Foundation of the State, our first Hungarian king, St. Stephen, and “the day of the new bread” as well.
You can choose from plenty exciting programs during the whole day; music and folk programs, fairs, wine and gastronomy etc.

The Festival of Folk Arts takes place on the picturesque Castle Hill. In every year the most renowned Hungarian artists and craftsmen from different regions of the country introduce their skills handed down from many generations. In these workshops you can try and learn the trades, and of course you can buy some traditional Hungarian souvenirs as well.
The holiday ends with an impressive firework from the Gellért Hill.
